My name is Elisabetta Del Soldato but I’m better known in the community as Betti. I have lived in Crouch End, North London, since 1994. After two decades as London correspondent for an Italian national newspaper, I decided to leave journalism and pursue my real passion, food. Since then I’ve been catering for parties in London and the surrounding area. And I haven’t once looked back.
I was raised on a small vegetable farm in Tuscany and I have always loved food. When I was little my favourite meal was my mum’s homemade Tordelli, a type of ravioli filled with three different roasted meats which I still dream of. In London my prime mission is to source the freshest ingredients to reproduce the rustic, simple and genuine flavours of my childhood. And I am still very lucky to be able to bless the food I make with my dad’s olive oil which he sends me every year after the October’s harvest in Massaciuccoli, the village where I was born.
